What's the food scene like?
There are tons of cafes and farm to table restaurants all over Antigua Guatemala. It's a pretty international tourist destination, so they have most types of cuisines and even some American staples. Local food is your best bet, especially if you're trying something new!
What else should I know about Guatemala?
Antigua Guatemala is immediately surround by 3 volcanoes - Fuego, Acatenango, and Agua... but, don't worry, only 1 is still currently active (sometimes it does cause flight delays and other minor issues but it hasn't burned the town to the ground in the last few hundred years).
The city is a UNESCO World Heritage site, full of Baroque architecture, and was once the capital of Guatemala for almost 300 years.
Due to the fertile soil from all the nearby volcanoes, the city now thrives as a hub for coffee, grain, and agriculture.
Why TF are you getting married in Guatemala?!
Great question! Something reasonable like New Orleans or Florida or Dominican Republic is probably the first thought for those that know us well.
Long story short, Guatemala was our first international trip together as a couple and we ended up falling in loving with this city.
We want to share this magical place and all it has to offer with our closest friends and family (and it was also cheaper than literally anywhere else, so there's that, too).
Do I need a passport? Do I need a visa?
All guests must have a passport to enter Guatemala (make sure it doesn't expire within 6 months before the wedding or they may give you a hard time getting back into the US upon re-entry).
American guests do not need a visa.
Dominican guests need to apply for a visa if you don't have an American visa or passport.
European guests do not need a visa.
